Your health, always organized

A platform that simplifies medical scheduling, tracks appointments, and provides easy access to your family’s health records — all in one place.

📌 About the project

I created a web and mobile application that allows patients to schedule medical appointments, complete pre-visit health information, and keep their medical reports organized. Designed for busy individuals, older adults, and families, the app improves healthcare efficiency and offers an accessible, autonomous, and user-friendly experience.

🧩 Problem Statement

Busy individuals with family or work responsibilities need a fast and clear way to register for medical appointments and share their health status, because the current process is often slow, confusing, or inefficient. Additionally, many users lose or forget their medical documents and previous reports, which can complicate medical care and add extra stress.

🔍 Research study details

Method: First-hand qualitative research through interviews and usability tests.

Why?: This approach helped us deeply understand how real users currently manage appointments, their emotions, pain points, and habits. We learned their preferred devices, what they value most, and what frustrates them—allowing us to design features that directly address those needs.

User interview

To understand how users currently schedule and manage medical appointments, what barriers they face in the process, and what they expect or need from a digital solution that facilitates this task.

Empathy Map

User Person

Based on the results of the survey conducted, we can create User Personas grounded in accurate data. This allows us to identify the real needs of our users, setting aside our assumptions and focusing on concrete information.

⚠️ The challenges

  • Designing for both tech-savvy users and seniors with limited vision.
  • Balancing simplicity and personalization without overwhelming the user.
  • Integrating features like downloadable reports, family health tracking, and insurance compatibility while maintaining ease of use.
  • Ensuring intuitive navigation (mobile-first, desktop-friendly).

🎯 Goal Statement

Our web and mobile application will allow patients to easily register for their family doctor’s appointment, answer health-related questions beforehand, and keep their medical reports organized and accessible. This will benefit users with busy schedules by reducing waiting times, improving medical preparedness, and preventing the loss of important information. We will measure effectiveness by tracking the percentage of pre-appointment registrations, average waiting time saved per patient, and frequency of document access or downloads from the platform.

How might we (HMW)

  1. How might we leverage María’s brief moments of rest to make scheduling appointments possible with just two clicks?
  2.  How might we make it so that María doesn’t have to book the appointment herself, but instead the appointments come to her?
  3.  How might we completely eliminate the use of calls or forms to schedule appointments?
  4.  How might we help María remember when she needs an appointment?
  5.  How might we make booking appointments for her children independent of her work schedule?
  6.  How might we reduce the number of steps needed to finalize a medical appointment?
  7.  How might we completely eliminate phone calls from the medical scheduling process?
  8.  How might we make scheduling a medical appointment stop being frustrating and instead become a smooth or even satisfying experience?
  9.  How might we schedule appointments without the patient having to manually search for availability?
  10.  How might we make scheduling a medical appointment as simple as ordering an Uber or food through an app?

  11. How might we use María’s work digital calendar to suggest free time slots in which she can visit the doctor?

Conclusion

This project not only delivers a digital solution for booking medical appointments but also reimagines how families interact with the healthcare system. By combining accessibility, centralized medical information, and streamlined interaction flows, we have reduced the friction that has historically discouraged patients from keeping up with their medical check-ups.

Our qualitative research revealed that the true value lies not only in “booking quickly,” but in anticipating user needs, integrating seamlessly into their routines, and giving them full control over their own and their family’s medical history.

The result is a product that not only addresses immediate tasks but also builds trust, encourages prevention, and transforms the patient–doctor relationship into a more human and efficient experience.
